Scarpa Vapour Lace Womens
The Scarpa Vapour Lace Women's climbing shoe is excellent on small edges and is a standout for technical route climbers operating on vertical to steep terrain. The Women's Vapour lace offers a shoe with a narrower forefoot and slimmer heel compared to the Vapour Lace.
Updated in 2022 the Vapour Lace retains many of the key characteristics of its predecessor, it is low in volume, narrow for Scarpa and the point is central on the front. More on specific technology is broken down below.
The dual density "Toe-cap", which simply put consists of a one-piece outsole which incorporates the base sole and toe rand come toe-hooking patch into one unit. This seamless partnership of stretchy rubber components allow the toes to mould into the yellow rubber of the shoe's upper when worn tightly, while the lower black portion is much more solid, helping to retain lateral rigidity.
The PAF heel system is a tension mechanism placed behind the heel to reduce pressure on the Achilles tendon. The holes on the base of the sole indicate the tension applied to a given model, varying between 1 hole for light tension and 3 holes for high tension - the Vapour Lace offers high tension.
This Vapour Lace also features a thermo plastic midsole, making it stiffer and more supportive than the Velcro model - this really helps fight fatigue when on the rock for prolonged periods.Â
To summarise, the Scarpa Vapour Laces is a comfortable performance climbing shoe, best suited for vertical and overhanging terrain. Being slightly stiffer than the Vapour Velcro, makes this Lace version better suited on trad and sport routes.
