Edelrid G-Screamer Shock Absorber
Take your alpine, big wall, or ice climbing rack to the next level with the Edelrid G-Screamer, a lightweight safety sling with an integrated shock absorber designed to add confidence where protection is uncertain. Built from high-strength HMPE and developed in collaboration with mountaineer Simon Gietl, this small but powerful device helps reduce dynamic impact forces on fragile protection to under 4 kN in the event of a fall.
At just 15 cm long and weighing less than 50g, the G-Screamer clips between two carabiners just like a quickdraw sling, adding minimal weight to your harness while offering significant energy absorption when you need it most. In a fall, the shock absorber deploys to a total length of 100 cm, smoothing out the load and protecting both you and your gear.
Features
- HMPE sling with integrated, compact shock absorber ā developed with Simon Gietl
- Areas of use: alpine, big wall, and ice climbing with questionable anchor points
- Reduces the dynamic impact force on the anchor point to less than 4 kN
- 3 kN static response force
- With a weight of less than 50 g, only negligibly heavier than a conventional quickdraw sling
- Braking distance 85 cm (total deployed length: 100 cm)
- The combination of a G-SCREAMER and rope clamp pursuant to EN 567 fulfills the dynamic requirements established in EN 15151-1 (braking device with manually assisted locking) and can therefore be used to belay a follower
- Must not be used to substitute a via ferrata lanyard
Specification
- Minimum breaking strength: 22 kN
- Certification: EN 566
- Material: HMPE
- Weight: 50g
